The kids are still suffering with cousin withdrawal so in an effort to distract them from the horror of being thousands of miles away from their soul sisters and for my own sanity we declared this week- Beach Week. And that's pretty much what we did...
Adalai helped me out and kept a close eye on her little siblings.
Rem chased waves to her heart's content.
Thatch collected rocks and ate a lot of sand encrusted apple slices. He even shared a few with his BF Zeke.
And I got to catch up with a few friends, explored a slice of paradise (Coronado Island), and took some time delighting in my children. Not a bad week at all!! We just missed one thing... dear ol' Dad. But the countdown has begun just 4 more weeks and he'll be out of his seminary schedule for the summer.
Below a few pics from our afternoon at Coronado Island.
Remy was so ready to get to the ocean.
Adalai striking a pose in front of the infamous Hotel Del Coronado
Speaking of posing for pictures... while I was packing up our things a couple of Korean (I think) ladies came walking up to where we were, motioned for Remy to step towards them and immediately started taking pictures with her, peace signs and all ;). All the while I was standing right there. As soon as they left Remy turned to me and said, "those were my friends". I'm going to have to keep an eye on that girl!
After a week at the beach little has changed besides some extra freckles. Adalai is still asking how many days til she gets to be with Livie. Liverbugs, a week with you is sweeter then a week at the beach! I've started a countdown but am also trying to use this opportunity to teach her of a friend that sticks closer even then her dear cousin.
A friend who is always with her:
"Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea" -Ps 139:7-9
A friend that knows her better then anyone else:
"O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from a far. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether." -Ps 139:1-4
And a friend whose love is greater, steadier and deeper then anything our minds can comprehend:
"How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more then the sand." -Ps 139:17-18
Praying that God becomes Adalai, Remy, and Thatcher's closest friend and also praying that this great friendship is where I stop and rest, where I find my contentment, my peace, and my greatest joy.
