A break & back again

Like always time has seemed to disappear and it's already been 2 months since I last posted.

Traever's Christmas break was a much welcomed rest. We didn't make it back home for the holidays since we'll be heading back in April and Traever only had a couple weeks off (he had a winter semester with 3 courses). Even with out the travel the break was short but sweet and so relaxing!

The break went fast and then it was back to the books...

And back to the littles for me...

Back to school as well :)

Above: the kids have been doing water colors at CC as we learn about various famous artists. We learn at home in "different" ways...

Above: going through some of Adalai's CC curriculum and a video also featuring our laundry basket: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10151957348576200&set=vb.607141199&type=3&theater

Living in the sunshine...

I'm THANKFUL to be at home with the kids and for the time that we have together. Also thankful that we can be outside this time of the year. My facebook newsfeed reminds me everyday to not take the sunshine for granted!

After living here 6 months and only making it to the ocean twice (much to do with Thatch's multiple naps and a 30+ minute drive) I decided to make more of an effort to go!  I had heard others here talk about Del Mar so we decided to check it out and it definitely lived up to the reviews. It's the perfect place for little ones. There's a playground set up on top of a hill that overlooks the ocean and a large grassy area with picnic tables. It wasn't crowded at all, the sand was soft and had tons of gold flecks in it... it's pretty much magical. My kids who hate sand, water, being barefoot, etc all of a sudden were having the time of their lives running bare foot in the sand, chasing waves, and building sand castles.

And of course having some friends to enjoy it with made it even better!

The kids continue to grow and develop their fun little selves...

This little guy just had his first birthday

he didn't like the cake... nothing surprises me anymore.

Remy's still our quirky one who resembles her father in so many ways.

She's her own little person but she does adore her big sister.

And last but not least there's Adalai the nurturer, encourager, and 2nd captain of the ship :)

She will be 5 years old in a few short weeks. We just got a call this past week that she got into The Classical Academy's (a charter school) kindergarten program so she will be starting there this fall 2 days a week and the rest of the week she will be home schooled.  I'm still wrapping my mind around the fact that I will have a kid that's school aged. I have to remind myself to treasure these little years!
