I keep bumping into an idea whether it's on blogs, TIME magazine, or just out and about. The idea that seems to communicate that children are an inconvenience or an unnecessary burden. On trips to the grocery store I get told fairly often “You have your hands full!”- which I do :) I'm sure we are quite the sight! Or “How many children do you
have? 3, so, you're done then?” To which I reply "probably not" :). It has started to be a welcomed sight now when someone strolls up to my cart to get a closer look at Thatcher and to give his pudgy foot a squeeze.
There are opportunities everyday in my own little home when I can feed the idea that kids are an inconvenience or an interruption. When babies are crying and toddlers fighting unfortunately these thoughts can too easily surface in my mind. And in those moments as crazy as it seems I can lose grasp with the fact that the very REASON I am at home isn't about me or my measly to do list but for them and ultimately to communicate the goodness of God to their hearts. I’m incredibly blessed by our little ones and to be able to stay at home with them is pretty amazing! They make our lives so so much richer and better in just about every way.

Anyhow, enough of my ranting and rambling here are some recent pics.
Sweet Togetherness
Enjoying a lazy morning at home.
I don't know what I love more about this picture the fact that they are listening to books on tape or the lovin Rem is giving Adalai.
Remembering old friends and meeting new ones
Adalai was so excited to receive a letter in the mail from her good friend and cousin Livie.
We have been blessed to meet another family with kids the same ages.
I'm so thankful that we are adjusting and feeling more at home here.
Traever is 2 weeks into his first semester now. The reading and workload is intense, like 1000 pages of reading a week, but he is enjoying it. I get to hear about all of the "dynamite" lectures he heard during the day. I'm looking forward to gleaning from him over the next few years and hopefully auditing a class or two.
Adalai starts Pre-K (Classical Conversations) next Monday. She's been looking forward to "school" for years now so the pressure is on!
Remy is potty training and being her normal crazy basket case self! Talking up a storm and keeping us all laughing and on our toes.
Thatch finally seems to be on more of a schedule now at least with naps which has made him a much happier baby...there's nothing better then his smiles, giggles, and coos.
I'm so glad to hear you guys are settling in well and enjoying life in California! What an awesome adventure for you and your kids as well. The scenery around Escondido looks amazing! I think i've probably asked this before, but will you be in IL for Christmas? It'd be great to see you! We'll be praying Traever's semester goes well and that you're comforted in moments of homesickness (and that you get a lot of visitors as well!) :)
ReplyDeleteMuch love to you!
Hey Ellen, thanks for the message and prayers. We don't know for sure if we'll be back at Christmas but with plane tickets so expensive it's not looking likely. I've loved keeping up with you on fb and seeing all of the beautiful pics of Australia. Love to you and Shane too!
